 about

“More than My Religion” is an art exhibition of diverse subject matter and a community outreach effort. It is meant to separate the media image of Muslims being defined by acts of violence around the world from the reality of Muslims as citizens and contributing members of society, in most cases no different from people of other faiths.  Named and local Muslim artists from the Boston and Providence areas are contributing their work to illustrate their values using art as a medium.

The motivation behind this project is to change the narrative to Muslims as peace-loving and forward-looking people who are intrinsic parts of the communities they live in. When it comes down to how we all think about life and humanity, our fundamental values and beliefs are not so different from one another.

In today’s society, opinions of a group of people can be quickly formed through the divides that we ourselves construct in our minds. Through this exhibition, we seek to unlearn these differences.
